The National Youth Development Agency is an establishment that aims to create opportunities and improve the lives of young South Africans. On Thursday, 30th of March 2017, they hosted their 2nd Annual South African Youth Awards (SAYA) with the theme Against All Odds. The aim of this year’s awards was to shine a light on young South Africans doing exceptional work in moving the country forward. Walking away with his first entrepreneurial accolade was Bulelani Balabala, CEO of IAF Brands.
Joe Public United is proud to be part of the growth of our Enterprise Development partner Bulelani, who was the second runner-up to be awarded in the Entrepreneurship Category by the National Youth Development Agency, which acknowledges entrepreneurs that serve to inspire and motivate the youth of South Africa in local communities that are in the bleakest situations, to strive for positive outcomes. They also encourage private, public and civil society to contribute to the development of the youth. Bulelani is deeply passionate about the development of small township businesses, which is why he started Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA), a registered NPO that has been operating for two years, aimed at developing township entrepreneurs and promoting entrepreneurship in township schools.
He has also been previously awarded by the former Mayor of Ekurhuleni for being the best corporate citizen in youth development. He is a professional speaker who covers brand development, entrepreneurship and inspiration.
“As a news business owner himself, it is great to see someone like Bulelani being passionate about growing the country and guiding the younger generation to become successful and to create jobs as entrepreneurs,” says Pepe Marais, Group Chief Creative Officer, Joe Public United.
