Since 2014, World Ballet Day has been celebrated annually during the first week of October, this year it’s today, 2 October. It’s a collaboration between major ballet companies around the world, who stream live video of their behind-the-scenes preparations in their respective time zones.
At this year’s Loeries, Joburg Ballet’s ‘Breaking Ballet’ walked away with 5 birds as well as the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Public Service Award that recognises and rewards campaigns created for charitable organisations. The campaign by TBWA Hunt Lascaris Johannesburg is a series of bite-size ballets inspired by the day’s big stories. If you’ve missed Breaking Ballet, today is the day to take a look at the campaign.
