Borne from three agencies in 2011, NATIVE became a digitally-led, full-service agency committed to creating purpose-driven work that lives in people’s lives. In 2012 we joined the VML network as NATIVE VML and continued to produce work that extended beyond the digital canvas. Later, in 2016 we joined forces with Y&R to provide our clients with a true integrated offering under the VML and Y&R Africa Group. In the 18 months that followed both agencies raised our creative credentials to the highest levels, achieving first and second most awarded South African agencies at the 2017 Cannes Lion Festival and ranking in the top five for the local Creative Circle rankings. As NATIVE VML, we ended 2017 with a bang when we were named Entertainment Agency of the Year in the Global Creativity Report… making us the number 1 ranked branded entertainment agency on the planet.
Now in 2018 we’ve taken the next step in integration by combining the forces of NATIVE VML (a digitally integrated agency), Y&R (a more traditional ATL agency), Labstore (a BTL and shopper marketing agency), and NATIVE Media (a TTL media specialist) into one fully integrated company called VML South Africa, leaning in to our VML heritage and taking full advantage of the VML network with its incredible depth of skills and resources.
