MediaCom bags gold and silver awards at New Generation

MediaCom South Africa’s drive to realise executional excellence for their clients was recently recognised by the New Generation panel at the prestigious Monte Casino event, walking away with three awards for some of the most coveted categories: Best Integrated Marketing Campaign (Gold), Community Management (Gold), and Most Viral Campaign (Silver).
The seventh annual New Generation Awards, which was held on the evening of 4 October in Johannesburg, once again affirmed that South Africa’s media industry is evolving exponentially. With a record number of finalists, representing hundreds of our country’s leading brands, this year’s award caused waves – nationally and internationally. Seeing that the gala ceremony was live-streamed across the world, millions of people engaged with the awards’ social and digital platforms to follow the event.
World-wide engagements such as this is a clear indicator that South Africa’s media industry is fast become a frontrunner in executing campaigns that is not only inspired, but insights-based as well.
Striking this balance between innovation and ROI is a key focus for MediaCom, which is an important criterion for the New Generation Awards. These awards are unique, as it doesn’t solely focus simply on emotion and ideation as other awards do; there is a specific focus on the combination of ingenuity and insights-based success.
Stephen Paxton, Managing Director of the New Generation Social and Digital Media Awards, explains that the judging criteria ensure that the process is primarily about the results. “A meaningful digital marketing experience is a smart idea executed brilliantly, with the facts to back it up.” With a distinctly mathematical approach to judging, there is a much-needed guideline in place to consider campaigns that are holistically impactful in terms of innovation, creativity, strategy, content, results, and sales.
